“I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose,
fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.”
True to this year’s ONE theme, coaches, athletes, and other leaders in the sports world displayed their devotion to embrace God’s call on their lives and drive towards others in love on and off the athletic field to the grace of God.
2017 saw a record-breaking year, with workers and resources reaching far and wide to commit to coaches and athletes around the globe. It’s not only numbers that are growing, but hearts as well.
See how we stand as ONE …
A Message From Our President…
“One” is a powerful principle we see displayed throughout the sports world. Being one—together and unified—is the ultimate desire of every team. Coaches constantly implore their teams to play as one. Players strive to operate as one cohesive unit, rather than a bunch of individual parts. Even fans unite to rally their teams to victory.
This first year of my presidency, I have felt our staff, board members, volunteers, and donors unite together as one to take the ministry to new heights. Your prayers and support have spurred me on and for that I am grateful.
No matter your age or position in life, as followers of Christ, we’re all active participants on Team Jesus! But remember, uniting as one requires everyone to be all in—mind, spirit and body aligned and committed to the common cause. With that as the inspiration, let’s commit our families, homes, businesses, teams and ministries to having an attitude of “One” as followers of and ambassadors for Christ.
Peace and blessings,
“You can be a great leader who has influence on people, moving them in a certain direction and instilling values, but if you want to be a mentor leader there is a whole other depth. We need to be transformative coaches. We need to be changing and drawing hearts to Christ.”
When a coach desires to live and lead for Him, there’s no telling what could happen for God’s glory. When coaches become followers of Jesus Christ, their character, relationships and approach to coaching authentically pours from the way they act, live and speak.
In 2017, FCA saw incredible growth and impact through 1,374 certified Coaches Huddles.
They have a major sphere of influence that casts wide ripples of motivation that can transform individuals, teams and communities. Their genuine enthusiasm to speak truth into lives becomes a catalyst to the Kingdom’s movement. We’ve made it a priority to pour into our coaches and see them transformed and passionate about the sphere of influence where God has placed them.
FCA walks them through this journey, providing Coaches Huddles and conventions, training, resources and retreats to build their heart and energy in and out of coaching, so they can be at their best to effectively shepherd teams, athletes and their staff.
The Campus Ministry is a certified ministry that is initiated and led by student-athletes, sponsored by coaches, supported by staff, established on junior high, high school or college campuses and meets on a regular basis. The types of Campus Ministry are Multi-Sport Huddle, Team Huddle and Coaches Huddle.
Campus is one of the greatest strategic mission fields with most youth passing through this portal. FCA focuses on equipping, enabling, empowering and encouraging student-athletes, coaches and adult leaders to impact and influence their campus for Christ.
In 2017, students were reached on 14,521 certified Campus Huddles.
During the 13th annual Fields of Faith event, over 192,000 students gathered on 519 fields to worship and hear peers share how Jesus has impacted their lives. Prayer at the end of the evening ushered in 7,414 first-time decisions, 8,612 students to recommit to Christ and 8,781 to make a pact to read their Bible.
FCA provides coaches and athletes the opportunity to reach their God-given potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training in a camp setting that produces spiritual transformation in the lives of coaches and athletes through “inspiration and perspiration.”
There are six types of camps—Sports Camp, Leadership Camp, Coaches Camp, Power Camp, Team Camp and Partnership Camp. At each camp, this year’s ONE theme encouraged coaches and athletes to develop athletic/coaching skills, create lasting and influential relationships and trust and follow their Coach, Jesus Christ, as they make a difference for Him.
In 2017, we experienced a record-breaking year with a total attendance of 113,470 at 772 FCA Camps in 45 states and 41 countries around the world.
But the most incredible impact happened with 9,417 salvation decisions and 10,997 recommitments to the Lord during FCA’s Camp season.
With the majority of athletes playing sports in the community, FCA is ministering to the non-campus opportunities of club, recreational and youth sports teams with the goal of establishing ongoing ministry for coaches and athletes to compete for Jesus Christ with character, passion and excellence. We do this through three types of Community Huddles: Coaches Huddles, Multi-Sport Huddles and Team Huddles.
In 2017, coaches and athletes were involved in a record 1,012 Community Huddles.
FCA serves in 62 countries through 164 international leaders and countless volunteers who spread the good news of Jesus Christ around the world. FCA supports initiatives and partnerships that provide opportunities for leaders in sport ministries within their own countries by equipping them with the programs, training, systems, support and ministry resources to grow their ministries.
In 2017, FCA International touched thousands of lives, including 6,667 coaches and athletes who indicated decisions for Christ. Camp growth has exploded internationally with 294 camps reaching 40,068 campers in 41 countries. There are 876 Huddles that reached 21,883 individuals.
It’s stories like these that bring the world-wide wonders of God’s movement to life. Yet through all these avenues of FCA, this is the heart of it all:
